Summer 2024, my family and I stayed in Takayama, a quiet mountain town in Japan. Its calm streets and neat gardens reminded me why I love small, intimate scenes. On a shaded path I found a small stone Buddha among moss, ferns, and clipped maples — ancient yet personal. Dappled sunlight on the weathered stone and green plants shaped the mood and composition of my 8”×12” acrylic on canvas: a study of calm, texture, and the balance between human craft and nature.
